It requires a team of volunteers to make Nest Academy a long term program integrated in RVA.  Here are some areas that volunteers can assist with, but express your interest and we will find a match for you.  Most volunteer opportunities can be done in just 1-2 hours.

• Upcycled Totes - Gather a group (friends, church groups, office groups, youth project, etc) or bring a kit home to wash or fold or tag to help us build inventory for our Farmer’s Market Sales.  Less than a 2 hour commitment is needed.  Skilled people to help sew totes is especially needed.  These simple totes only takes 15 minutes each to make.

• Guest speakers - Have a hobby that our students may be interested in hearing about?  Be a guest speaker and provide us a 30 minute presentation with show and tell, videos and/or music.  With the help of aid, students can also participate in building or decorating.  We can consult with you on the best methods to present to our class to maximize engagement with this special group.

 

• Virtual Office Support - Just like any small business, office paperwork still exists in nonprofit.  In today’s world, alot of it is virtual.  So from the convenience of your home, you can still be supporting Nest.  Inquire if you are interested and we will find the best assignment for you.  It may be an hour project or a weekly project depending on what you are looking for.

 

• Classroom Support - Help with set up and take down, student check-in, class photos and posting to Facebook and other tasks.

 

• Community Outreach - Help us get our name out by talking with local businesses.  Share our mission and what we have done.
